Back on track!
It’s exciting to have a refreshed staff team working with our first autumn school groups this week and feels like the right time for an update:
Much needed school residentials
Despite the sterling efforts of parents and school staff there’s no doubt that many children have missed opportunities during the pandemic. We feel now, more than ever, that school residential experiences have a lot to offer young people.
Many schools have already booked and we look forward to welcoming them to the centre.
There are however vacancies for other schools to book in. If you are interested in booking a residential for your pupils – whether it’s the usual one for that year group or an additional one for a year group who missed out – please get in touch.
Supporting schools
If you have a group of pupils and/or staff that would benefit from a residential, day visit or activities in school please get in touch to discuss the many possibilities. The pandemic has created different pressures in different ways for different schools and we’re here to help support schools wherever outdoor learning can help.
Covid19 safety measures
Whilst many aspects of visits to the centre will feel like they did pre-Covid we still have additional cleaning and other control measures in place and continue to review our approach in line with advice from the council’s public health team.
We are fortunate that our usual approach of school groups having sole use of their accommodation and dining facilities has the added benefit of reducing mixing between different schools onsite.
Adult training courses
We have yet to recommence the provision of many of our adult courses as maintaining distinct areas and facilities for different ‘bubbles’ of people has in effect reduced our capacity.
We will look to schedule courses soon and look forward to welcoming participants back to the centre.
Self catering accommodation
With many celebrations and get togethers postponed by the pandemic there’s lots of catching up to do!
Our self catering accommodation for groups of 4-90 is popular at weekends and during the school holidays so if you’re planning a break with family and/or friends please get in touch.
Staff changes
An unexpected knock on of the pandemic has been lots of change within the staff team – thankfully for positive reasons. To read more about changes in the Thornbridge Outdoors team see our ‘The Changed Team‘ news article.
The return to a full staff team means that we’re able to focus on future plans as well as delivering fantastic adventures for our guests which is exciting.
Customer service
With all of the changes in guidance, reopening to schools and staff changes I’m aware that we haven’t been able to give all of our customers, and those making enquiries, the level of service we aim for. Thank you to everybody for your patience and please be assured it has, and will continue, to improve.
Thank you for reading this update and if you have any questions and/or want to discuss your ideas and plans please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best wishes from the Thornbridge Outdoors Team.
Ed (Head of Thornbridge Outdoors)
